Dear Me,
If as an adult you could send a letter to your younger self, what words of guidance, comfort, advice or other message would you put in it?
In 2009 Joseph Galliano published a book of letters written by celebrities to their sixteen year old selves. The book was a success and was soon followed by a second publication in 2011 (Dear Me, More Letters to My Sixteen-Year-Old Self.) The books give an intimate glimpse into the backgrounds and emotional makeup of the contributors.
"Don't do drugs, stop hating your thighs, buy shares in Google."
This month you will write a letter to your sixteen year old self. Give any advice or guidance you like. Decide if you want to give warnings or be vague so as not to spoil the surprise of what is in store. It's up to you.
What about your future self then? Write a letter to the future you, aged 80 (we have already discussed what we will be like at that age!) This might be interesting to look back on when you are in your twilight years as a snapshot of your life now.
Bring your letters to the dinner in March.
